Stadium ban for Buriram

Stadium ban for Buriram

The Thai Premier League has banned TPL champions Buriram United from using their home stadium for one match after their fans used foul language.

The Thunder Castle also faced a fine of 50,000 baht after their fans held placards with words deemed abusive during a recent match at I-Mobile Stadium.

Buriram will have to use a neutral ground for their home match against Osotspa on Oct 12.

Buriram chairman Newin Chidchob said he accepted the decision and would not appeal.

"The ban will not affect our title hopes,'' said Newin.

Newin is a vocal critic of the country's football authorities particularly Thai FA chief Worawi Makudi.

The TPL has banned Buriram's Spanish midfielder Carmelo Gonzalez indefinitely prompting the club to file a suit with the Administrative Court.

TPL leaders Buriram are only one point ahead of Chonburi with six matches to go.

The league is taking a one-month break to allow the national team to prepare for and take part in next month's Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
