Prachaya faces Pakistan's Qureshi in first match

Thailand's No.2 Prachaya Isarow will take on Pakistan's top player Aisam Qureshi in the opening match of the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Group Two third round today.

Thailand's Prachaya Isarow, second right, and Pakistan's Aisam Qureshi.

Following yesterday's draw, Thailand's No.1 Danai Udomchoke will face Samir Iftkhar in today's other singles match at the National Tennis Development Center, Muang Thong Thani.

The winners of the tie will be promoted to Group One next year.

In the doubles match tomorrow, Thai twins Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana will meet Aisam Qureshi and Aqeel Khan. In Sunday's reverse singles, Danai will be up against Qureshi and Prachya will play Iftkhar.

Thailand captain Paradorn Srichaphan said: "Every player is ready for the match. Our players are ranked higher than the Pakistanis who normally play in the doubles.

"Qureshi plays very well at the net and Prachya must be patient. There should be few problems for Danai as Iftkhar is a newcomer."

Prachya said he was well-prepared and would try to get the first point of the tie.
