Japanese golfer Fujita wins Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup

TOKYO - Japanese veteran Hiroyuki Fujita won the $1.4 million Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup Sunday, firing a five-under-par 66 on the final round.

Fujita sank six birdies and one bogey on the 7,117-yard Ohtone Country Club course in Ibaraki, northeast of Tokyo, and managed a four-day total of six-under-par 278.

"All day today, I was able to (play) satisfying golf. I am extremely happy with the result," the 45-year-old said.

"The fact that I was able to play among Asia's leading players and win the tournament gives me a lot of confidence."

Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand, South Korea's S.K. Ho and Jason Knutzon of the United States finished joint second, two strokes behind Fujita.

Asian Tour Order of Merit leader David Lipsky of the United States had to settle for a four-day total of 292, which gave him a share of 56th place.
