Thailand face China in friendly

Thailand have only 15 players for tomorrow's friendly against China in Wuhan.

There are only 12 outfield players with the other three being goalkeepers in the hastily assembled squad.

Several players have withdrawn from the team because they played in the recent Asian Games, including Swiss-Thai midfielder Charyl Chappuis, or will play for their clubs in the League Cup final on Sunday or the Thai Premier League in midweek.

"We have only 15 players," said caretaker coach Choketawee Promrut.

In all, nine players pulled out of the team including Pokklaw Anan, Pakorn Prempak, Prakit Deeprom and Sompong Soleb.

"With only 12 outfield players, coach Choketawee may have to play," said a commentator.

Thailand last year secured a stunning 5-1 away win at China in a friendly which triggered a riot and led to the sacking of Antonio Camacho as coach of China.

The Thai U23 side also defeated China 2-0 at the Asian Games.

Meanwhile, the TPL will resume on Oct 15 after a one-month break.
