A thumping header from Japanese defender Daiki Iwamasa in the 75th minute and another from Honduran striker Georgie Welcome in stoppage-time earned BEC their first ever League Cup win and their first title in 12 years.

It was a deserved victory for the Fire Dragons who put on an impressive performance with Asian Games star Chanathip Songkrasin having a great game at the heart of BEC's attack.

BEC dominated possession early on and Montenegro striker Radomir Djalovic twice came close to putting his team ahead in the 21st and 27th minutes.

BEC defender Naruebodin Weerawatnodom, the team's other Asian Games player, also had his shot saved by Buriram goalkeeper Siwarak Terdsungnern in the 24th minute.

BEC maintained their dominance in the second half and Japanese midfielder Sho Shimoji nearly put the Fire Dragons ahead with a header in the 57th minute but Siwarak again came to Buriram's rescue.

BEC's effort finally paid off when Iwamasa rose above the Buriram defence and beat Siwarak before Welcome put the game beyond doubt with a clear header in the dying seconds.

BEC Tero received five million baht for the victory. Playmaker Chanathip was named the most valuable player and was awarded with Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Buriram, as runners-up, received one million baht.
