O'Sullivan wins dramatic fifth UK title

LONDON - Five-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan claimed a fifth UK title on Sunday with a thrilling 10-9 win over Judd Trump in the final in York.

England's Ronnie O'Sullivan plays a shot during the 2014 World Snooker Championship final in Sheffield, northern England, on May 5, 2014

O'Sullivan, 39, shrugged off the pain of a broken ankle throughout the week to add the UK crown to the Masters, Welsh Open and Champion of Champions titles he collected earlier in the year.

His only major setback of 2014 was his loss in the world championship final to Mark Selby.

But he did it the hard way on Sunday, allowing 2011 champion Trump to fight back from 9-4 down at one stage to take the final to a single-frame shootout in the best-of-19 title match.

O'Sullivan showed his class, however, with a crucial early break of 51 to which Trump was unable to respond.
