Tough draw for Buriram

Kuala lumpur: Thai Premier League champions Buriram United will face Japan's Gamba Osaka and South Korea's Seongnam in the 2015 AFC Champions League.

Following yesterday's draw, the other club in Group F will be a play-off winner.

Gamba are J-League champions, while Seongnam are Korean FA Cup winners.

TPL runners-up Chonburi will be at home to Hong Kong champions Kitchee in a one-match play-off.

The winners will then take on Japan's Kashima Antlers for a place in Group E.

Thai FA Cup champions Bangkok Glass will host Malaysian league champions Johor or Indian champions Bengaluru.

The winners will next meet China's Beijing Guoan for a spot in Group G.

Meanwhile, Western Sydney Wanderers were handed a difficult start to their Asian title defence when they were drawn against former winners Guangzhou Evergrande

The Wanderers stunned holders Guangzhou in this year's quarter-finals on their way to winning the tournament on debut, becoming Australia's first winners of the competition.

Their Group H showdowns against the Chinese champions, now under former world player of the year Fabio Cannavaro, will be the pick of the preliminary stages starting in late February.

South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, who won the title in 2006, will play China's Shandong Luneng and Vietnamese title-holders Binh Duong in Group E. bangkok post/afp
