Rattanaphon claims three gold medals

Nakhon Ratchasima: Youth Olympic weightlifting champion Rattanaphon Pakkaratha swept three gold medals for the hosts at the National Games in Nakhon Ratchasima yesterday.

Rattanaphon lifted 81kg in snatch and 112kg in clean and jerk for a total of 143kg in the women's 53kg division.

Chon Buri's Tanya Sukcharoen was second and Suphan Buri's Saowaluk Somsamai third in all three categories.

"My results were not very good but I am pleased with my performance because these are my first three gold medals after three National Games,'' Rattanaphon said.

In karate-do, national athlete Yanisa Torratanawattana of Nakhon Ratchasima won gold in the women's individual kata.

In rhythmic gymnastics, Samut Sakhon's Pancharat Prawatyothin won the individual all-round title, ahead of silver medallist Anyawarin Supatheeralert of Bangkok and bronze winner Benchaporn Limpanit of Ubon Ratchathani.

In athletics, Surin's Sanchai Namket won gold in the men's half-marathon in 1:10:35.70hr, beating favourite Bunthung Srisang of Buri Ram.

Nattayan Tanaronnawat took the women's title in 1:22:12.78hr.
