Man United sack scout over Facebook posts

LONDON - Manchester United have sacked one of their European scouts over claims he posted racially offensive comments on Facebook.

Manchester United scout Torben Aakjaer reportedly published anti-immigration posts on Facebook, although it appears these have now been removed

According to a report in Britain's Guardian newspaper, Denmark-based Torben Aakjaer published anti-immigration posts on the social media website, although it appears these have now been removed.

United suspended Aakjaer after the allegations became public and, late on Wednesday, the English football giants announced they had sacked the Dane.

"We have terminated our association with him (Aakjaer)," a United spokesman said.

Following the initial reporting of Aakjaer's Facebook posts, United said: "Manchester United is an inclusive organisation and will not tolerate this sort of behaviour."

Aakjaer, who has previously worked at Hamburg, started scouting for United in 2011.
