Kiatisak gunning for Cup title

Thailand coach Kiatisak Senamuang is confident that his men will win the King's Cup after he learned that Honduras are not sending their full national team to the Feb 1-7 tournament.

The other two teams in tournament, to be held in Nakhon Ratchasima, are South Korea and Uzbekistan.

The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) earlier said Honduras would use their World Cup squad.

But their full national team will now play Venezuela in a friendly on Feb 4.

"We have a high chance of winning the King's Cup," Kiatisak said.

"But we cannot underestimate any teams."

South Korea will use their pre-Olympic squad but it is unclear which team Uzbekistan will field in the tournament.

Uzbekistan's full national team is playing at the Asian Cup in Australia.

Meanwhile, Thai Premier League (TPL) club Chonburi will host the Chang Chonburi Invitation tournament which will kick off Friday.

The other three teams in the pre-season tournament are TPL sides Suphanburi and Army and South Korea's Goyang.

Chonburi will take on Army and Suphanburi face Goyang on Friday at Chonburi Stadium. The winners will meet in the final and the losers play in the third-place play-off on Sunday.

Army have signed a one-year loan contract with Japanese Kai Hirano from J-League side Cerezo Osaka.

Hirano moved from TPL champions Buriram United to Osaka in the second half of last season but could not help Cerezo to stay up in the Japanese top flight.

The forward said: "I always think about the Thai league and I am happy to be back again. I am looking forward to the new season."

The new season kicks off on Feb 14.
