Ariya leads Thai charge in Melbourne

In-form Ariya Jutanugarn will lead the Thai challenge at the Women's Australian Open this week.

The US$1.2 million tournament, the third leg of the LPGA tour 2015, will tee off today at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club.

Ariya, who was a runner-up at the Bahamas LPGA Classic two weeks ago, said that she has been in good form lately after working hard with her coach.

The Thai is now fifth in the money list with $131,494 after two tournaments. She finished joint 11th at the season-opening Coates Golf Championship.

However, she was cautious about the course which is quite similar to the Pineshurst, the venue for the US Open.

"It is a really tough course. A driver is needed only in a few holes," said the world No.60. "Together with a speed of the green, it is really difficult.

"However, it will be a good experience for me to play this kind of course."

Due to such tough conditions, Ariya said that she did not set any target for the tournament.

"To handle the course condition, we need to change our game plan," said Ariya. "With that, it is hard to set any target here. We want to learn more playing on this course."

Joining Ariya at the tournament are sister Moriya Jutanugarn, Thidapa Suwannapura and Patcharajutar Kongkraphan.
