Thaworn and Itthipat share second day lead at Singha E-san Open

Thaworn Wiratchant and Itthipat Buranatanyarat shared the halfway lead at the three-million-baht Singha E-san Open in Khon Kaen yesterday.

Thaworn and Itthipat shot four-under-par 68s for 135 at Singha Park Khon Kaen Golf Club.

Chapchai Nirat was a stroke behind after a 69 for 136, one shot ahead of Pariya Junhasavasdikul (67), Piya Swangarunporn (67), Rattanon Wannasrichan (67) and Panuphol Pittayarat (68).

Thaworn, who missed the cut in all of his previous three tournaments, said that his putting had improved.

"My putting was really poor recently. I am happy that it does not happen here," he said.

"It was not too difficult today because it was not windy."

Prayad Marksaeng, who won three titles on the All Thailand Golf Tour last season, shared eighth place on 138 after a 70.

Khon Kaen-born Thanyakorn Khrongpha suffered a 74 with three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.

Thanyakorn was tied for 17th place on 141.

The cut line was 145 with 62 players qualifying for the weekend.

The tournament is the season-opener of both the All Thailand Golf Tour and Asean PGA Tour.

On the women's side, amateur Pannart Thanapolboonyaras took a two-shot lead yesterday after she made a 70 for 141.

Kanphanitnan Muangkhumsakul was on 143 and Prima Thammaraks 144.
