Singha inks extension deal

Singha has signed a new two-year deal with AF Corse Ferrari racing team in the World Endurance Championship, the company said yesterday.

Voravud Bhirombhakdi, second left, and AF Corse Ferrari drivers.

The current contract expires at the end of the year and the company has agreed to sponsor the team for another two years until 2017.

"It is great to be a partner of Ferrari, one of the leading brands in the world," said Voravud Bhirombhakdi, vice managing director of Boonrawd Trading.

"The new contract is worth about 200 million baht."

Their partnership, which began last year, got off to a winning start with the team's victory in the LMGTE Pro class (Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance Professional) in the World Endurance Championship.

"We hope more success will come," he said.

On the business side, Voravud said that Singha's logo on the racing cars would help promote the brand especially in England and Germany.

"It will help bring our brand to the world because there are more than 400 million WEC fans around the world," he said.

AF Corse Ferrari racer Toni Vilander of Finland said he was proud to be a part of the partnership of the two brands.

"They both want to be the best in their sectors," he said.

The 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship starts at Silverstone next month and ends at Bahrain in November.

Singha is also a sponsor of Red Bull Racing in Formula One.
