Veteran Prayad Marksaeng fired a final-round 67 to successfully defend his title at the 13th Singha Pattaya Open yesterday.

Leading by one shot going into the final round, Prayad yesterday closed with six birdies and two bogeys at the par-71 Burapha Golf & Resort in Chon Buri.

He finished on 22-under 262 at the three-million-baht tournament, co-sanctioned by All Thailand Golf Tour and Asean PGA Tour.

The 48-year-old, who fired a course record 60 in the third round, took home 435,000 baht for his third title here.

Finishing second and four strokes behind the winner was Piya Swangarunporn (70) who got 256,500 baht.

The third place and the low amateur was Suradit Yongcharoenchai who shot a 69 yesterday.

Sutijet Kooratanapisan (68) and Panuphol Pittayrat (67) were tied for fourth on 272 and brought home 151,500 baht each.

A stroke down further at joint sixth was Prom Meesawat (70), Namchoke Tantiphokakul (68), Thitiphun Chuayprakrong (65) and Phachara Kongwatmai (68).

Two-time Asian Tour No.1 Thaworn Wiratchant finished joint 20th on five-under after his final round 71.
