Tanutchan storms to 11-stroke Nong Khai win

Tanutchan Puaktes stormed to a 11-stroke victory at the season-opening Chang-Nong Khai Championship yesterday.

Taking a five-shot lead after three rounds, Tanutchan shot a seven-under-par 65 in the final round for 264 at Victory Park Golf and Country Club in the first event of the 2015 Thai PGA Tour season.

Tanutchan, who took home 200,000 baht from a total purse of 1.5 million baht, was 11 strokes better than second-placed Settee Prakongvech (67) on 275.

The runner-up received 106,000 baht while Tichakorn Sawaddee (68), Natthapong Niyomchon (67) and Sorachut Hansapiban (68) shared third place on 276 and each got 63,417 baht.

One stroke further down were Kirtitee Sundthornnon (67), Phanuvich Onchu (72), and Kitdanai Suphasirises (73).

Ratchaburi-born Tanutchan, who yesterday made one eagle and five birdies, said he was happy to end a seven-year title drought and that the victory would help him regain confidence.

The second tournament in the 2015 Thai PGA Tour season will be held at Pattana Golf Club in Chon Buri from May 25-29.
