Cabrera belts 400th career home run in Tigers win

ST. LOUIS - Detroit slugger Miguel Cabrera hit the 400th home run of his Major League Baseball career to help the Tigers to a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers hits a solo home run, his 400th career home run, against the St. Louis Cardinals in the first inning at Busch Stadium on May 16, 2015

Cabrera's blast Saturday made him the all-time leader among Venezuelan-born players as he passed the 399 career homers of compatriot Andres Galarraga.

The Tigers first baseman belted a 3-2 pitch from Tyler Lyons over the wall in straightaway center field in the first inning to give Detroit a 1-0 lead.

The ball landed in almost the same spot that his 399th career homer landed on Friday.

Cabrera moved into a tie with Adrian Beltre for 52nd on MLB's all-time home run list.
