Defending champions Buriram United were surprisingly held to a scoreless home draw by Army United in the Thai Premier League last night.

The TPL resumed after a one-month break for the full national team and U23 side to play at World Cup qualifying and the SEA Games.

At I-Mobile Stadium, leaders Buriram dominated for long periods but could not break Army’s gritty defence.

Buriram’s Suchao Nutnum and Diogo Santo missed several chances in the first half.

It was one-way traffic in the second half as the hosts threw everything at the visitors but failed to break the deadlock.

After 11 games, Buriram have 25 points, four ahead of Muang Thong United.

The Kirins will cut the deficit to one point if the beat relegation contenders TOT at home today.

At Saraburi Stadium, bottom side Saraburi got a point against Osotspa after a dull scoreless draw.

Suphanburi also had to settle for one point following a 1-1 home draw with Bangkok United.

Ronnachai Rangsiyo gave the visitors a 1-0 lead after 51 minutes only for Indonesia striker Sergio van Dijk to equalise for the hosts in the 65th minute.

BEC Tero Sasana’s poor run continued as they could only manage a 1-1 home draw with Chainat.

Wesley Alex scored for Chainat after 16 minutes and Gilbert Koomson earned a point for the Fire Dragons eight minutes from time.
