Defending champions Buriram United were spared their blushes when they salvaged a 1-1 draw in a northeastern derby with Nakhon Ratchasima yesterday, but the result could see their lead at the top of the Thai Premier League trimmed to a lone point.

The tie has left Buriram with 32 points from 14 matches.

Joint second Muang Thong United and Bangkok Glass will now be entering their respective matches this evening fancying their chances of closing the gap on the league leaders.

The Kirins and Glass Rabbits both have 27 points each from 13 matches and they have realistic chances of carrying their tallies to 30 points.

Muang Thong United travel to Chainat, who are in the 13th place in the standings, while Bangkok Glass host cellar-dwellers Saraburi.

At Nakhon Ratchasima, midfielder Sarawut Masuk gave the hosts the upper hand in the 16th minute and the Swat Cats did well to stay ahead until Sittichoke Kannooh's shot found the net for Buriram in the 77th minute.

In another match yesterday, Army and Si Sa Ket remained scoreless in their clash until the last frenzied minute of the match in which two sides netted one goal apiece for a 1-1 tie.

Chatchai Mokkasem gave the Army fans a reason to celebrate in the 90th minute, but their fans had not quite settled back into their seats yet that Brazilian Victor Amaro scored the equaliser for Si Sa Ket.

Chiang Rai United impressed once again yesterday as they recovered from a one-goal deficit to edge TOT 2-1.

TOT, playing at their home ground, were put ahead in the 11th minute by their South Korean player Lee Jun-Ki, but the advantage lasted only until the dying moments of the first half when Pichitpong Choeichiu equalised for Chiang Rai.

The visitors were rewarded for their consistency in attacking as Brazilian Renan Marques delivered the winner in the 67th minute. The visitors then succeeded in warding off the TOT's attempts to salvage a draw.

Brazilian Addison Alves helped Osotspa cruise to a 1-0 victory Port scoring the winner in the second half.

In yesterday's late match, BEC Tero Sasana's woes continued as they could only manage a scoreless home draw with Suphanburi.

In today's other matches, Ratchaburi entertain Navy and Bangkok United take on a Chonburi side who are hoping to improve upon their recent performances.
