Prayad Marksaeng and Prom Meesawat shared the lead after three rounds of the two-million-baht Singha Panasonic Hua Hin Open yesterday.

The trophy could stay in the tourist resort town as both Prayad and Prom hail from Hua Hin.

The duo held a one-shot lead on 203 with one round to go at Royal Hua Hin Golf Course.

Prom, who was seven shots off the pace after two rounds, was on fire yesterday, shooting a nine-under-par 63 with nine birdies in a bogey-free round.

“My putter was hot today,’’ said the 31-year-old Prom.

Prayad, 49, hit a 65 and is in a confident mood, having won the King’s Cup in Hua Hin two years ago and the Queen’s Cup in Samui last month.

One stroke behind the leaders were Pawin Ingkhapradit (65) and Kwanchai Tannin (69).

Phachara Khongwatmai was fifth on 205 in his bid to win the tournament for a second time.

Wolmer Murillo of Venezuela dropped to joint seventh, four strokes behind the leaders.

In the 54-hole women’s competition, Chorphaka Jaengkit posted a 71 for 216 to win the title and the winner’s purse of 32,000 baht.

Chitawadee Duangchan (77) and Preenaphan Poomklai (74) shared the second place on 218.

In San Diego, Paphangkorn Tavatanakit finished second at the Junior World Golf Championships on Friday.

Paphangkorn shot a one-under-par 71 for 278 in Class A of the 15-17 years old girls division.
