TPL giants aim to win it big

Buriram face Chainat at home as leaders Muang Thong United take on struggling Navy

Although both Muang Thong United and Buriram face minnows in today's Thai Premier League games, they are still feeling the pressure.

Muang Thong striker Teerasil Dangda in action against Port.

The two teams have accumulated 50 points each from their 22 matches so far, but a lone goal advantage has pushed the Kirins to the top of the table.

So when the two giants take the field today, they will be under pressure not to just win their matches but to win them big as well.

Buriram are confident of picking up three points from their match with Chainat but leaders Muang Thong United are also fancying a win over struggling Navy.

Buriram will be at home and their team manager Thatthep Pitakpoolsin said: "We must win this match to keep the team in the title chase. We don't have any injured players and are confident of winning the match."

Ms Nitayaporn Tharasuk, assistant managing director of Chainat, said: "We have our two key players, Pichit Jaiboon and Sukree Etae, back from injury.

"We hope to claim one point from this match because Buriram are a very strong team. A draw would be enough for our team."

Muang Thong, who won 2-1 at Port in midweek, will also be playing at their own SCG Stadium.

Their assistant coach Pol Chomchuen said: "Our players are now looking forward to the match and are very confident of winning.

"Sarach Yooyen, Mario Gjurovski and Datsakorn Thonglao are playing very well and Teerasil Dangda is back to his best as well.

"I believe that we can win and pick up three points from the match against Navy to retain the top spot."

Ashok Srisawad, secretary general of the Navy team, said: "It will be difficult for the Navy to beat Muang Thong as they are in their top form.

"We have to check on the fitness of our striker Rodrigo. If we leave the Muang Thong ground with a point, it would be a major surprise."
