Nuanphan Lamsam made a surprise announcement Sunday night to return as manager of the women's national football team after calling it quits less than two weeks ago.

The former manager made the announcement on stage at a charity concert at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani. The concert was organised by Muang Thai Insurance for which she is president and CEO.

Her comeback decision was greeted with loud cheers from the audience at the concert hall and was quickly acknowledged by football fans on the social media.

Nuanphan, who led the woman footballers as they reached their first ever World Cup finals earlier this year in Canada, told the audience that she decided to continue to work as the manager of the women's national football team after some phooyai in the sports realm had asked her to continue her work and promised to support her.

On Sept 23, Nuanphan announced her resignation a day after Thailand lost 2-0 to Vietnam in Mandalay, Myanmar in their final game of Asia’s second qualifying round for the 2016 Olympics, ending six years in the post.
