Kirins take on resurgent Sharks in big TPL game

While SCG Muang Thong United welcome back a key defender for their big Thai Premier League clash today, rivals Chonburi are ruing the absence of a couple of their stars.

Muang Thong forward Cleiton Silva, right, in action against TOT.

Muang Thong, who lost the lead to defending champions Buriram at the weekend, will have Japanese Naoaki Aoyama back from a one-match ban for the crucial match.

Chonburi finally ended their five-game winless streak with a 4-0 win over Chiang Rai on Saturday but lost goalkeeper Sinthaweechai Hathairattanakool to injury in the process.

Leaders Buriram also have a tough outing today as they face Ratchaburi at home.

Stakes are high for the big guns in today's battles as results could determine the championship race.

The Kirins will be hoping for a victory at home against Chonburi, who will also be missing Adul Lasoh, to reclaim the No.1 place, but much will also depend on the result of the Buriram v Ratchaburi clash.

Muang Thong's front line will be led by Teerasil Dangda and Cleiton Silva.

Muang Thong assistant coach Pol Chomchuen said: "We are happy that Naoaki will be back to help the team.

"Other players are all ready and looking forward to the match against Chonburi. We expect peak performances from our players after the 1-1 draw against TOT on Saturday. We have to beat Chonburi today."

Chonburi media director Jeerasak Chomthong said: "It won't be an easy game. Our situation is not very good because Sinthaweechai was injured in the match against Chiang Rai and is still in the hospital."
