Retired Greek triple jumper Devetzi faces doping rap

ATHENS - The Greek athletics federation (SEGAS) Wednesday said Olympic medal-winning triple jumper Hrysopiyi Devetzi faces punishment for testing positive in 2007 to a doping test.

Greece's Hrysopiyi Devetzi competes during the women's triple jump final, on August 31, 2007, at the IAAF World Athletics Championships, in Osaka

In 2007 Devetzi she won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Osaka but that now may be in jeopardy.

"The international federation (IAAF) informed SEGAS that the athlete retested positive on a sample taken in 2007. Following this development the federation opened disciplinary proceedings against her," SEGAS said.

Devetzi, now 39, retired in 2009 after IAAF slapped a two-year ban following her refusal to undergo an anti-doping test.

She won two Olympic medals -- silver in the Athens 2004 Games and bronze in Beijing in 2008.
