Saraburi FC up for grabs — chairman

Saraburi Football Club, a team in the Toyota Thai Premier League 2016, has been put up for sale after failing to meet the sponsorship target, its chairman wrote on the club's Facebook.

Veerapol Adireksarn made the announcement on Saturday, a little over a month before the new season begins on Feb 27.

"As we failed to find enough funds, we can't continue to manage the team and there will be problems during the season," he wrote.

Mr Veerapol added management had already told the club's players to seek new homes.

"The only condition we have for the prospective buyer is that the team must play in Saraburi. If there's no buyer, we'll be forced to pull the team out of the season."

Saraburi FC finished at 14th in the Thai Premier League 2016, in a tie with BEC Tero Sasana and Royal Thai Navy FCs.

Saraburi FC, originally The Warlords Saraburi FC, was founded in 2000 by Mr Veerapol, who remains its chairman.
