The 61-year-old former national golfer told a press conference yesterday that he has been associated with golf all his life both as player and instructor and is contesting for the post so that he can use his experience and knowledge to improve things for all those involved in the sport.

"I have qualified personnel on my team and am confident we can serve the association well and pull it out of its current troubled phase," said Methee, who is supported by Thai stars Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

Methee, who is now director of the Singha Golf (Khon Kaen) Academy, added that his first step in office, if elected, will be to keep players of all levels busy by staging 43 tournaments spread across the ThaiPGA, Challenge, Mini-Challenge and Senior tours in a year.

"Most importantly, all the actions will be done in a transparent manner," he said.

Methee is challenging Santiparb Tejavanija, former governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand who is supported by the current ThaiPGA board members.

Methee said he was not worried because he knows golf better than his opponent.
