SCG Muang Thong United, riding on a tide of confidence, are hoping to claim another big scalp tomorrow when they clash with Chonburi at home.

Second-ranked Kirins are upbeat after ending their long barren run against defending champions Buriram United, crushing their arch rivals 3-0 in a midweek Thai League encounter away at I-Mobile Stadium.

Brazilian striker Cleiton Silva scored twice and former Buriram forward Adisak Kraisorn added the other goal for Muang Thong.

Buriram United, who are fourth, are fancying three points from their trip to bottom-placed BBCU today.

Muang Thong coach Totchtawan Sripan is expecting another enterprising performance from his men at SCG Stadium.

Totchtawan said: "We have been performing well and have won some good games, especially the one against Buriram United on Wednesday. The players look more confident now. Now, we have to keep the momentum going.

"A match against Chonburi is never easy for any team and we cannot afford to underestimate them.

"We need to run a fitness test on Sarach Yooyen who was injured during the match against Buriram. There are no problems with other players and we hope to beat Chonburi at our home."

Chonburi, who finished fourth last year, have dropped out of the top half in the standings after a string of lacklustre shows and their media director Jeerasak Chomthong admitted that the Sharks will be entering the match as "underdogs".

He added: "However, we will not give in easily and we have carefully worked out our tactics for the match.

"We are hoping our fans will show up and help us pick up at least a point as we will be without Pokklaw A-Nan and Suttinun Phukhom, who are both injured."

Table-toppers Bangkok United, meanwhile, face a tricky assignment at Ratchaburi today when No.3-ranked Bangkok Glass entertain struggling Navy.
