N'dri sends Muang Thong two clear at top

Michael N'dri struck late in the second half to help SCG Muang Thong United rally past a stubborn Pattaya United 2-1 and open up a two-point gap at the top of the Thai League yesterday.

Muang Thong's Chanathip Songkrasin.

Pathompol Charoenrattanapirom had stunned Muang Thong with a 10th-minute goal and the leaders took some time to regroup.

Adisak Kraisorn levelled the score 13 minutes later, but the Kirins' efforts to net the winner remained unproductive until N'dri struck home in the 82nd.

Their seventh straight victory gave Muang Thong United a tally of 30 points from 12 matches. They now enjoy a two-point advantage over second-ranked Bangkok United.

Suphanburi slipped to eighth spot in the league following a lacklustre goalless draw at home against struggling BEC Tero Sasana.

Suphanburi, who had finished third in the league last year, have been having an indifferent season like a number of other giants including defending champions Buriram United and Chonburi.

After this weekend's matches, Buriram have dropped to fifth place while Chonburi are a couple of spots further below.

Ratchaburi failed to claim three points again as they suffered a 1-0 defeat away in Chiang Rai and extended their winless streak to five matches yesterday.

Anon Sangsanoi scored for Chiang Rai just before half-time and it eventually proved enough to send Ratchaburi tumbling down to ninth spot.

Earlier on Saturday night, Bangkok United registered another win, beating visiting Nakhon Ratchasima 2-1.

Dragan Boskovic and Jaycee Okwunwanne scored Bangkok United's goals in the first half.

Chakrit Rawanprakone pulled one back for the visitors in the 65th minute, but it was not enough to stop the Swat Cats from joining the drop-zone trio.
