Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill set for return from injury

LONDON - Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill will make her return from injury in Loughborough on Sunday as she builds up to competing in the Rio Olympics.

Britain's Jessica Ennis-Hill won heptathlon gold at the London 2012 Olympics and again at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing (pictured)

The 30-year-old Briton has been sidelined after an Achilles problem forced her to miss the World Indoor Championships in March.

Ennis-Hill, who won heptathlon gold at London 2012, will throw the javelin in her first outdoor competition of the season at the Loughborough International Athletics match.

The world champion pulled out of June's meeting in Gotzis and is not yet ready for a full heptathlon, although she has already secured her place in Rio.

She said: "I am going to start off my outdoor season with a javelin competition at the Loughborough International to put a marker down for us to work with.

"It is a firm favourite of both my coach and mine as the timing is always good, and the local support is amazing."

European champion James Dasaolu will compete over 100m while European 400m gold and silver medallists Martyn Rooney and Matthew Hudson-Smith will race in the relay.

Also running over 100m are Dwain Chambers and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey.
