In-form Panuwat Muenlek fired a 66 to join a three-way tie at the top after the first round of the All Thailand Golf Tour's 2.2-million-baht 2016 Singha Championship in Rayong.

Panuwat yesterday had five birdies in a bogey-free round at the par-71 Rayong Green Valley Country Club.

The 31-year-old, who won an Asian Development Tour event in Malaysia last week, was tied for the lead with Namchok Tantipokhakul and Kasidit Lepkurte.

One stroke behind was a group of five players featuring Danthai Boonma, amateur Sadom Kaewkanjana, Jakraphan Premsirigorn, Lerpong Sithihong, and Donlaphatchai Niyomchon.

Jazz Janewattananond, seeking his second straight victory on the All Thailand Golf Tour, was two strokes behind the leaders after opening with four birdies and one bogey.

At the Singha Classic in Nakhon Nayok earlier this month, Jazz came from six strokes behind to win the title with a brilliant final-round 64.

In the women's 54-hole event, Parinda Phokan and amateur Kanyalak Preedasuttijit shared the lead with 69 each.

Amateur Manuschaya Zeemakorn was second on 70 after making two birdies and one bogey.

Meanwhile, Thaworn Wiratchant and Prayad Marksaeng will lead the local challenge at the US$300,000 Queen's Cup at Santiburi Samui Country Club on June 16-19 as stars Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Thongchai Jaidee are committed to playing in the US Open at the same time.
