Fluid leak caused Thai Smile flight cancellation

Fluid leak caused Thai Smile flight cancellation

A hydraulic fluid leak was the cause of the cancellation of a Thai Smile Airways flight from Khon Kaen to Bangkok on Sunday morning, the carrier said.

Flight WE041, which was due to depart from Khon Kaen for Suvarnabhumi airport at 9.20am, was cancelled before the passengers were to board the Airbus A320-200, Thai Smile said in a statement. Of the 116 passengers, 88 were later transferred to a Nok Air flight and the next Thai Smile flight, while the 28 others postponed their travel or cancelled their trip.

The budget arm of Thai Airways International apologised for the inconvenience.

Athaya Larpmark, director of Khon Kaen airport, said the hydraulic fluid was found leaking from the rear wheels of the plane during a mandatory pre-flight inspection.
