Singapore Airlines (SIA) has opened a new, bigger lounge for premium passengers at Suvarnabhumi airport.

With a floor space of 513 square metres, compared with 314 sq m at its previous location at the airport, the new lounge is located on Concourse D and has a seating capacity of 130.

The new facility is part of SIA's ongoing multi-year programme to upgrade its airport lounges around the world to enhance the airline's appeal among premium passengers.

Bangkok is the second city in Southeast Asia to see the new SilverKris lounge concept take shape.

SIA did not disclose the cost for the Suvarnabhumi lounge but said it was designed by renowned architectural and interior design firm Ong&Ong.

Philip Goh, vice-president for Southeast Asia, said the SilverKris Lounge at Suvarnabhumi brings the "Home Away from Home" concept to Thailand.

"We are renowned for providing warm, authentic and personalised service in the air, and the Bangkok lounge will help us deliver this in new ways on the ground too."

SIA said passengers can enjoy flexible and dedicated spaces, ranging from a gallery, living room, dining area and a full-sized bar.

The signature wingback armchairs provides comfortable seating for rest and relaxation, the airline said.

The buffet area offers a wide selection of food and beverages, including Singaporean dishes such as Laksa and Hainanese chicken Rice, as well as Thai and Western cuisines.
