Ban Krua residents renew campaign against ramp

People in Ban Krua Muslim community in Bangkok oppose the transport minister's intention to revive a planned short expressway section that will cut through their neighbourhood.

Muslim residents of the Ban Krua community raise their hands in front of a community mosque in protest against the planned construction of a 2.8km Khlong Mahanak-CentralWorld freeway that would cut their neighbourhood off from city roads. The project, which has been suspended since 1988, is to be be dusted off by Transport Minister ACM Sukumpol Suwanatat. PATIPAT JANTHONG

About 500 community members gathered at their mosque yesterday afternoon to express their opposition to Transport Minister Sukumpol Suwanatat's plan to install the on-off ramp that will form part of the Bang Khlo-Chaeng Watthana expressway.
