Motorists shrug off first gas price rise

Customers at filling stations have yet to feel the pain of the first gas price rise, which took effect yesterday, a survey suggests.

However, some taxi drivers complained they will "be in trouble" as the government rolls out its plan for staggered increases over the next four months.

The Bangkok Post survey at filling stations on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road found no significant concerns yesterday as the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) rose from 8.50 baht to 9 baht a kilogramme and that of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) went up from 18.13 baht to 18.88 baht/kg.

Natural gas futures slumped to a 10-year low, as warm winter weather dampens demand and pressures prices that are already falling on record supplies.

i can totally agree to what you get is what you vote for, wake up folks and consider reading some books and news to prepare yourselves for the next elections. i would gladly welcome a even further increase in all fuel and petrol and gas prices, maybe a good way to go green and clear some of the bad traffic situations all over downtown bkk.

Gas is very important for the poor people. Shame on Thai govt to impose higher and higher living cost to Thai people.
