Repairs to northern rail track finished

Repairs have been completed on the flood damaged rail track in Lamphun province and full services on the line to Chiang Mai were expected to resume later today, State Railway of Thailand deputy governor Kamol Tangkijcharoenchai said on Tuesday.

The damage, caused by run-off from Khun Tan Mountain, halted rail services between Lamphun and Chiang Mai on Saturday.

Mr Kamol said although the repairs had been completed, the line could not be immediately reopened because it was still raining.

the line could not be immediately reopened because it was still raining."""

because it was done with just dirt and sand that will just wash away again. that tiny single drainage culvert at the bottom needs to be replaced with something with substantial drainage capacity, and the grade crossing needs to be beefed up with concrete and rock
