SRT plans to seek approval for 10% fare hike

The State Railway of Thailand has announced it plans to seek cabinet approval to raise fares by 10%.

If approved, it will be the first time fares will have gone up in 28 years, an SRT source said. The new prices would take effect from March next year.

The source said the most recent fare rise took place in 1985, when diesel was 7 baht a litre, versus almost 30 baht today.
