Busy Suvarnabhumi at New Year

Holidaymakers have been advised to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport two or three hours before their scheduled departure time during Christmas and New year holiday week due to an increase in the number of passengers.

The number of visitors passing through Bangkok's international airport from Christmas Day to Jan 5, 2013 is expected to increase to 1.88 million, or 156,000 passengers a day, said Vilaiwan Nadvilai, director of Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The airport handled 1.84 million travellers at the same time last year.

Thai stats, you gotta love them. Obviously they forgot that Air Asia has moved to Don Mueang since 1 October 2012? That’s 180 take-offs and landings and 23,000 to 25,000 pax less per day in BKK.

Normally Thai's don't read very much statistic in school and the understanding of such subjects are poor.. why they use % up and % down freely.

What happened last year is a "standard deviation" (sigma, σ) and can not serve as ground for claiming anything.

'belt tightening' is the name of the game, in most western countries. Being optimisic, sometimes is just, trying to feel good.
