Power break halts airport rail Link

The Airport Rail Link between Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi airport was stopped for more than two hours on Sunday over a power supply problem from electricity authorities.

Pakorn Tangiatsakow, acting chief executive officer of SRT Electrified Train Co, said the service was forced to a halt because of the power supply disruption at the Hua Mak station and the two backup power sources being out of order.

The power stoppage affected Airport Rail Link's traffic control system.

The incident occurred at about 1.20pm at the Hua Mak station, but the link was able to continue running between Suvarnabhumi and Lat Krabang stations and between Phaya Thai and Ram Khamhaeng stations.

When repairs were completed, the entire link was restored at about 4pm. SRT Electrified Train Co, the operator, deployed four trains instead of the usual three to relieve congestion.
