Problem forces return of THAI flight

Thai Airways International's flight TG916 from Bangkok to London returned to Suvarnabhumi airport shortly after taking off due to a hydraulic problem on Tuesday afternoon.

All 266 passengers on the flight boarded a replacement plane.

The national airline's Airbus A340-600 plane departed from Suvarnabhumi airport at 1.20pm. Pilots later sought permission to return to the airport as the plane had a hydraulic problem.  Following safety protocols, they brought the plane back to the airport for examination.

THAI deployed another plane to serve the 266 passengers to London. The flight took off again at about 4.30pm and was scheduled to land in London at about 9.50pm local time.

An online user who claimed to be on the flight tweeted a photo which he claimed was a discharge of fuel by the faulty jet on the way back to Suvarnabhumi airport.
