Mum, daughter hurt jumping from train

A woman was seriously injured and her 11-year-old daughter slightly hurt after they jumped from a train they had wrongly boarded in Songkhla province on Sunday morning, reports said.

The mother, Ket Prasompong, 44, sufferred a heavy concussion after her head hit the ground. She was admitted to Songkhla Hospital.

Her daughter, Panida, who was slightly injured, was admitted to Thepha Hospital.

Police said the two bought tickets for local train No.463 (Phatthalung-Sungai Kolok), boarding at Na Mom station in Na Mom district of Songkhla, to go to Ta Paed station in Thepha district. They instead boarded the Sungai Kolok-Bangkok express train No.37.

The express train usually does not stop at Ta Paet and Thepha stations. Its next stop is Pattani station.

When the train slowed down at Thepha station, the woman and her daughter, knowing they had boarded the wrong train, decided to jump off it.
