Additional sections of Bangkok’s Phahon Yothin Road will be closed starting Wednesday to pave the way for construction of the Green Line electric railway.

The closure will start in front of Horwang School and stretch from the Central Lardprao shopping centre to the entrance of Phahon Yothin 17 Road. The closure will remain in effect until 2019.

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority said on Tuesday that from March 2-7, two outbound lanes next to the footpath in front of the school would be closed around the clock. The closure would start at 11pm on Wednesday. Three outbound lanes and two inbound lanes will remain in use.

From March 9-26, two outbound lanes next to the footpath at the shopping centre would be closed around the clock. The closure would begin at 11pm on March 9 and motorists will have three outbound lanes and two inbound lanes.

Between March 27 and Feb 9, 2019, one inbound lane and one outbound lane next to the traffic island will be closed from the shopping centre to the entrance of Phahon Yothin 17 Road around the clock. The blockage will start at 11pm on March 27 and motorists will have two lanes each for inbound and outbound traffic.

The elevated Green Line operated by Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc is being extended from the Mo Chit area northward to Khu Khot in Pathum Thani province. The 59-billion-baht, 16.4-kilometre-long extension is set for completion in 2020.
