Suvarnabhumi airport was ranked 36th in a global survey of the world's top airports released on Thursday.

The main airport serving Bangkok came 36th out of 550 airports surveyed by the Skytrax World Airport Awards, which saw Singapore's Changi airport as the world's best terminal.

The rating of Suvarnabhumi this year jumped from 47th position in the annual survey last year. In Southeast Asia, Kuala Lumpur International Airport was rated better than Suvarnabhumi at 24th.

Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport was picked as the fifth best airport hotel in Asia, with Crowne Plaza Singapore named the best in Asia and the world.

The survey was conducted from June last year to February this year and the results were based on 13.25 million questionnaires from travellers using 550 airports worldwide.
