Lochte, Phelps safely into 200m free semis

Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps answered the bell for round two of their heavyweight Olympic bout on Tuesday, both reaching the 200m freestyle semi-finals at the US swimming trials.

Lochte, who beat Phelps for the world title in the event in Shanghai last year, qualified fastest, winning his heat in 1min 48.14sec.
