Higgs-like particle found in 'milestone' for mankind

After a quest spanning nearly half a century, physicists said Wednesday they had found a sub-atomic particle that may be the elusive Higgs boson, believed to confer mass on matter.

Handout graphic distributed by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva shows a proton-proton collision event measured in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experience in the search for the Higgs boson. Physicists have found a new sub-atomic particle in their search for the Higgs boson, a top CERN scientist said.

Rousing cheers and a standing ovation erupted at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) after scientists presented astonishing new data in their search for the mysterious particle.

Disc 5 spiceman. Let me assure you there are thousands of God fearing Scientists and Physicists who were involved during their long quest for this boson. The result of which may give you an answer, to what and who you really are, and if there even is a heaven, as you loosely put it. If the Hadron collider is not shut down as it should for its planned maintenance, be prepared for possible big discoveries that could be frightening.

Excellent news that this massive investment is getting some results at last.

However, I have a feeling it will raise more questions than answers by showing gaps in the current theories.

Lets hope they don't press a wrong button and trigger a black-hole which suck us all in !.

Here we go again trying to smash our way into heaven! I just curious to know how many of these scientists believe in God, instead of "God particle?"

The elusive particle boson has most probable been found now, after 45 years. I'l bet the Hadron collider won't be shut down for maintenance now.
