Romney 'to restore promise of America'

White House hopeful Mitt Romney will vow to "restore the promise of America" in a key speech Thursday as he accepts the Republican presidential nomination, according to excerpts released in advance.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney (C) confers with the stage manager and advisors during the sound check at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. Romney will vow to "restore the promise of America" in a key speech Thursday as he accepts the Republican presidential nomination, according to excerpts released in advance.

The former Massachusetts governor will tell Americans that Barack Obama has failed to deliver the "hope and change" he promised and to elect him instead to turn around an economy crippled by the president's wrong-headed policies.

Outsourcing has been a good thing all around. Ask any one in China, Thailand and other asian countries. As far as being a good thing here in the US, it has lowered the cost of goods and expanded the availability of more goods.
Years ago, when Japan was allowed to bring goods into the US, people would reject many of the products because of poor quality. Now Japan is known for quality. That is free trade. They had to improve their quality in order to compete. They did it.
Even though many people badmouth large companies, without them free and open trade would not exist. That includes millions of jobs. I think if the detractors of big companies would have them removed they woud have quite a fight on their hands. They provide a lot of jobs.

It's no longer a democrat thing or republican thing. It's become an American thing. Both sides are tired of Republicrats who put their fingers in the wind to see which way to lead. My friends who are democrats say this current brand of democrat is not what they are. The same was said about the Bush era by republicans.
The political pendulum swings back and fourth and hardly stands still. The cycles will continue until at some point there is new kind of party that absorbs everything and the nation becomes just another country with nothing to offer the rest of the world. I certainly hope that does not happen. It would not be in the best interest of all nations.

D1 is totally correct. It matters little who actually wins the elections.

The USA is a shambles and not because Obama is in office. It is like blaming Taksin for corruption in Thailand.

70 million people without health care in the US
The highest umber of prisoners in the world
    Thousands on death row
35 million people living below the poverty line (according to US government statistics)
A military that is seen as the aggressor throughout the world
Embassies built like bunkers as a result

The American Dream is becoming a nightmare

If Romney takes the reins, I think you will see a return of the elite running the country and an erasing of all progress made in recent times. Kind of reminds of the PTP, claiming to have all the answers to solve all the problems, but in reality just bringing back the old elite to power.

If you are American then you have forgotten the power of the vote. If not, then you have not seen the power of determination by the people to correct the wrong direction of the country.
If Obama is kept in office then you are correct. If Romney takes his place then you will see some real changes and return to the forward motion of a nation.

Romney cannot and will not reverse the decline of America, the only thing he has to offer voters is that he is not Obama. The outsourcing of jobs, attacks on civil liberties and government arrogance which has disillusioned so many Americans is endorsed by the conduct of both political parties. As for Obama, his greatest achievement has been to demonstrate conclusively that it no longer matters who is elected, both parties cater to the same wealthy and corporate special interests.
