Zanardi triumphs amid multiple medallists

Former racing driver Alessandro Zanardi on Wednesday won Paralympic gold at a circuit where he once drove high powered cars, as the showpiece "Battle of the Blade Runners" took shape on the track.

Italy's Alessandro Zanardi holds his bike aloft as he celebrates after winning the gold medal in the men's individual H4 time trial cycling final during the London 2012 Paralympic Games at Brands Hatch circuit, in Kent. Zanardi won again at a motor racing circuit by taking Paralympic gold in the men's individual H4 (hand-cycle) time-trial.

It was also a day for multiple medallists, as the most-decorated male Paralympian took gold again in his ninth Games and Australia got a new star in the pool.
