- +

Correspondents for Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Agence France-Presse, BBC News and CNN were on Saturday awarded this year's Prix Bayeux-Calvados des Correspondants de Guerre prize, organisers said.

A National Transitional Council fighter screams after he was wounded by a mortar fired by forces loyal to Moamer Kadhafi during battles in Sirte in 2011. AFP's photo journalist Aris Messinis, who covered the battle of Sirte in Libya during last year's crisis that led to the fall of Moamer Kadhafi, was awarded this year's Prix Bayeux-Calvados des Correspondants de Guerre prize.

The prestigious award recognizes their work during assignments in the Syria crisis, with the exception of AFP's photo journalist Aris Messinis who covered the battle of Sirte in Libya during last year's crisis that led to the fall of Moamer Kadhafi.
