Is the Nobel Peace Prize losing some of its prestige?

Often described as the most prestigious award in the world, the Nobel Peace Prize risks losing some of its lustre because of the prize committee's unexpected and controversial choices of late, some observers warn.

In Oslo, Norwegian Nobel Committee Chairman Thorbjoern Jagland (L) announces the European Union as the recipient of the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize in October 2012. The European Union, which will pick up the 2012 prize at a formal ceremony in Oslo on Monday, is the latest in a string of such laureates.

    2009 Winner, Barack Hussein Obama, Commander-in-Chief of military forces in over one-hundred countries, the Peace Prize...an active war in Afghanistan, forces in Iraq fighting and worries of war in Syria and Israel....Peace Prize......something is amiss.
