UN Security Council approves Mali intervention force

The UN Security Council unanimously approved sending an African-led military force to help reconquer northern Mali from Islamist militants.

Malians gather in Bamako on December 8, 2012, to take part in a demonstration to support the Malian army and demand a UN Security Council resolution approving an international force in the country's north. The UN Security Council on Thursday unanimously approved sending an African-led military force to help reconquer northern Mali from Islamist militants.
