Oprah confirms Armstrong 'came clean' on doping

Lance Armstrong "came clean" to Oprah Winfrey on his use of banned drugs, the talk show host said, as anticipation built for the telecast of her interview with the shamed cyclist.

Armstrong "came clean" to Winfrey on his use of performance enhancing drugs, she said Tuesday ahead of the much-awaited telecast of her interview with the disgraced cyclist.

Winfrey told "CBS This Morning" that her OWN cable network will broadcast the two-and-a-half-hour interview unedited over two nights from Thursday. Originally, a shorter broadcast was planned for one night only.

    Simple facts from Winfrey's interview

Armstrong is a remarkable athlete - A fact

He used dope and cheat - A fact.

"Armstrong is a disgrace and must never be allowed to ride competitively again." He will not be, but he hopes to compete in other sports.

So much speculation and leaked info, one wonders if the actual interview won't be an anti-climax. Certainly isn't going to reveal anything we didn't already know. Fact remains: Lance appears to have doped. He can't ever fully admit it (for a variety of reasons), he's a bit of a bully character, but he's an awesome athlete and though you can take away his 7 titles you can never take away the fact that he beat dozens of doped up athletes to the top of the podium, 7 times, give him respect for that at least!

He did it because of greed. And it wasn't easy to detect doping, especially when concern with such a well-known person.

It has been mentioned on TV that the lifetime ban on Armstrong could possibly be lifted or amended following any admission of doping. Should that happen it would be the greatest possible insult to true sportsmen who compete fairly and indeed to all sport in general. Armstrong is a disgrace and must never be allowed to ride competitively again.

I think the doping agency failed massively to let this go on for so long .They should be under fire way more than him .

I sad day for cycling. I watched almost every TDF with Armstrong in it. He was impressive.

But the fact is Eddie Merckx was a better fighter, trying to win every single stage in his TDF appearances. In fact, eddie merckx he not been hit by a spectator toward the end of one of his last appearances and had his jaw broken, he likely would have won that year and Armstrong would not have passed him in number of victories.

Eddie Merckx now regains his deserved place as the best ever TDF cyclist.

Armstrong is in fact a remarkable athlete. One wonders what made him do it, since might well have been at the top anyway. Now he has nothing left but disgrace.
