The Chinese have overtaken the Germans as travel kings, as least in terms of the amount of money they spend while on holiday.
"China heads the list of world spending on vacation abroad," said tourist expert Martin Lohmann.
Tourists from China spent a total equivalent of around US$91 billion during travel abroad last year, said Lohmann. His statement was based on initial figures from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The figure includes both private holidays, short breaks and business trips. The figure for Germany stood at around US$88 million, Lohmann estimates.
